 Jerk Sauce

Ok, since my first post went so well, I thought I would try this again. :)

One of the things we try to do is offer specialty burgers, we have done teriyaki, bbq, cajun, etc.

However I really want to try a Jerk Burger, Marinating the meat is out, so I need a sauce that can go on the burger. Most of our sauces we do are mayo based, however in the case of Jerk, I don't think it will work so well.

Does anyone have any ideas how to make a stand alone jerk sauce that can be drizzled on a burger to kick it up a notch? Simple is best, this would be a limited time offer and I don't want to invest in a lot of ingredients.

not too sure where you are but there are some excellent prepared jerk bases out there. I have used the base and just thinned it down wiht mango juice and brushed over the burger as grilling and then again before leaving eh kitchen and got good reviews-some said too hot but.......they do not get the point!

Located in the Pacific NW, searched by main supplier's online catalog and no jerk bases.

What brand do you use, maybe I can google it and find it somewhere.

 Try your own

Hey Jr,

You might want to come up with a jerk seasoning that you and your customers like.  When you want to make it into a sauce, add a couple teaspoons of soy to "sauce" it.

Or... you might want to mix it in with a bit of mayo and use it as a "special sauce."

Ciao,

Give 'em what they want. Just make it better than they expected.

Well, I am trying to avoid a recipe with 10 or so ingredients just for the sauce, it seems:

It seems Soy Sauce, Brown Sugar, Thyme, Nutmeg, Cloves, Allspice, Vinegar, Orange Juice, Habenero, etc. Want to make an appearance in the sauce.

If I buy a container of Durkee or Tone's Jamaican Seasoning, add some soy sauce and extra habenero and play around with the taste a bit, maybe I will get lucky.

Wonder if Teriyaki sauce instead of soy would work, it already has the sugar in it and I have it already in the restaurant.

Thanks for the help guys!

Have used this brand to many  good reviews http://www.walkerswood.com/ We also use a brand from Ontario called Rino's-made by Jamaicans in Canada to remind them of home-or so they say!

hope this helps
