 Let me borrow your creativity

Hi everyone! I'm looking for help for another of our esteemed soon-to-be restaurant owners. We are creating a pit smoked meats restaurant concept, with the signature dish being thinly sliced, medium rare/medium pit roasted beef on fresh baked buns. It's a dish that is very popular on the east coast around Baltimore. The concept is also serving other pit roasted meats for sandwiches as well as entrees. Many of the concepts that serve this dish market themselves as BBQ restaurants, but we'd like to stay away from most traditional BBQ fare and concentrate on sandwiches mainly.

This is a quick service concept with average ticket times under 3 minutes, not a full service restaurant. The target demographic is 18-65 year old blue collar men.  For the USP, we are selling "manliness" or "machismo". We will decorate with items that appeal to our target demographic such as car memorabilia, sports items, and anything that celebrates "manhood".

Some names we have discussed that we can't use because they are already taken are:

The Pit Stop

The Beef Pit

Thanks everyone for lending us your creativity, and remember, we're looking for a name that says "manly", and implies quick service.

It would be nice if the name would fit nicely inside a bun on the logo too. ;)   See the attachment at the top to see what I mean.

 ..

As I recall this is going to be on Cape Charles, right?  How 'bout Cape Charles Smoke or Eastern Shore Smoke?  Then there's always The Man Stop, Smoke & Fire, Flash Fire, Fire One Up (lot's of connotations there).

Hope all's well there, CG.

Ciao,

Give 'em what they want. Just make it better than they expected.

The restaurant will be in Easton, MD. Though it is technically BBQ'd meats, we're trying not to brand it as a BBQ restaurant. When thinking "BBQ", people assume a certain wait time and style of service. Since this is a quick service restaurant with wait times much quicker than traditional BBQ, we don't want it to sound like a BBQ restaurant name. I'm not implying all the names you threw out there sound like BBQ restaurants, I like what you've given so far. Thanks for the feedback.

My first thought was:  Man Sams...or Man Sands...Something with "man" in the title.

I love those types of concepts.. like a Arby's on steroids (LOL ) .. Names like "Shavers" or "A Close Shave" come to mind but may require a well worded tag line to avoid the place being mistaken for a barber shop..lol  Obviously you could go in a different direction and simply call it what it is - " Stacker Subs" .. when the rest simply wont do.

I'm sure which ever direction you take Brandon it will be as effective if not moreso than any of the other alike concepts playing to the same market share.  However - tread lightly on drawing your line in the sand as to the type of guest you are trying to attract .. remember Mortons.

Anyway I wish you and your client well -

Thanks Henry. We're keeping our target market a little larger than Morton's. Roughly 25% of the demographic in Easton fall into our target market. Morton's is lucky if 5% in any geographic area can afford theirs. Focusing on too defined a group is something we discussed and tried to avoid, I know what you're saying.

Kay, we did discuss trying to work "man" or something to that affect into the name also.

Thanks guys, and keep the ideas coming!
