 Ah, the life...

So the week's been o.k. but:

My food rep tells me they may be out of a crucial menu item that I need to order extra of today. (they are closed, of course on Monday)

I had to fire a no call/no show today via his voice mail - which now means I'm working ALL weekend.

I have a rather large tuition bill looming for one of my children in the next ninety days.

The best employee/cook I've had in my entire life in this business has developed some sort of medical condition that is causing him to bleed profusely from his nose every morning.  Diagnosis: "unknown"

My car needs to go the shop. (again)

Why, oh why do I enjoy this self-punishment?

If it wasn't a challenge it you would prolly jump off the bridge out of sheer boredom.

Called at 6am
Outted on four items including the 30lbs of fresh perch I am running as a special feature this week.
Kitchen Manager forgot to order some stuff for a catering order that was paid for.
Short shipped on lettuce,
Outted on whitefish my secondmost popular item.
Dome lids for our cold to go cups were out and we are selling smoothies, shakes and iced coffees like there wont be any more to be had (it has finally warmed up here)
Rep brought me lettuce ( asked for two cases of green leaf and 2 spring mix, He brought me 3 spring mix and one green leaf five minutes before the lunch rush started and we had to get it cleaned and prepped,
Came back later with the fish just as the last order we had in house was ordered up.
"Manager put stock on shelf away so poorly that a gallon of syrup fell off the shelf as I moved something else and landed on my toe that is now swollen, sore and bruised. One of my best employees came in early for an interview and we had to finish up and deliver a last minute catering order for a good customer,

We had a great breakfast, a great lunch and a great dinner shifts. For that, I am very thankful

What I like to call just another tricky day at the office,

Hope everyone has a rocking weekend

Actually (in a strange & mysterious way) I've had a good day.

Everyone showed up at all 3 restaurants.....I'm in total amazement!!!  But of course this is race weekend in North Carolina....so we are dead.  Just don't figure...plenty of help...no sales.

My cell phone didn't ring until after 4pm today.  Of course I didn't realize that I had it turned off.  I guess if its important that they will call back.

It's Memorial DAy weekend.  Why do contractors think that the holiday begins at noon on Friday?

Everyone have a safe holiday and remember the reason you are taking off.

No rest for the wicked: you have all obviously done something terrible in past or present life.

Investment bankers, corporate CEOs and  political affiliates are obviously the most altruistic, charitable people in the world.

Gets better.  Another FOH bit the dust last night. I was called to be informed she spent half the shift texting buddies and making small talk with another friend that came in "just to say high"  I informed her of the policy against all that crap.  She yells. "I don't think I want to work here anymore"  into the phone. I said "Bye."

Customer came in today and informed us of her behavior yesterday also...we told her don't worry you won't see her anymore.  Now, new schedules, readjusted personal plans.

Girl comes to interview today in gym shorts, says "you can't wear gym shorts in here?"

LMAO.

Last update y'all.

Kid comes in three hours ago, orders a sandwich and asks for an application.  We check him out.  Solid kid from NC.  "yes sir, no ma'am." type.

We interview him on the spot.  He eats and leaves.  We call down to his old boss.  Owner verified kid worked for him two years with no problem.  "you tell him to do it, he does it."

He'll start tommorow.

Gotta admit, this stuff is more fun than Magic Mountain.
